Audience Development

Throughout her work as a freelance Audience Development Officer Simeilia has been affiliated with many main-house productions in reputable theatres across the UK. Simeilia's passion for increasing diversity within the arts has enabled her to build and sustain relationships with leading practitioners, theatre companies and community groups.

Simeila has successfully found new and diverse audiences for the production of Feast by Yunior García Aguilera, Rotimi Babatunde, Marcos Barbosa, Tanya Barfield and Gbolahan Obisesan, Blackta by Nathaniel Martello White at the Young Vic Theatre, Sunset Baby at The Gate, The Hounding of David Oluwale produced by Eclipse Theatre which opened at West Yorkshire Playhouse, followed by a regional tour, and , Open Stage a new initiative at Theatre Royal Stratford East,  which included Angelic Tales New Writing Festival, as well as, a revival of the musicals; The Harder They Come, Big Life and Come Dancing. This work required Simeilia to build audiences for new writing productions, emerging artists and international shows. 

As part of her role as an audience development officer, Simeilia has also produced numerous prestigious events. Including;  National Theatre Platform Event: Black Play Archive, Littleton Stage at the National Theatre,  A Guest Night event  at the Young Vic Theatre which comprised of key practitioners, press and members of government. She has also planned community engagement activities, such as, Open Mics at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Poetry Slam at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Ryancare's Got Talent (Talent Show) for Ryancare's Fostering Agency. 

Simeilia's work has included working with BAME organisations, people with disabilities, senior citizens and young people at risk.
